Cenbank says high level of cyberthreats new normality for banks
ST. PETERSBURG, Jul 7 (PRIME) -- A higher-than-usual level of cyberthreats for Russia’s financial sector is a new normality, the market will function in such an environment for a long time, Central Bank Deputy Chairman German Zubarev said on Friday.
“Although the peaks of cyberattacks are already behind us, we should not relax, of course, cyberthreats are still relevant for the financial institutions,” Zubarev said.
More than 20,000 computer attacks were registered in January–March, and the situation will not have improved much in April–June.
“We are considering publication of anonymized data of credit institutions, so far on transactions without consent on the website of the central bank. We will make such a pilot project so that the banks could see how they are doing, whether they should work better or, on the contrary, everything is fine,” Zubarev said.
